for those of you who also go to Labrador Forums, you will know all about Daisy, a labxvizsla a litter sister to one of my own Mya.
May of last year at work we had a litter of labrador x hungarian vizsla puppies, some of the pups were kept others went to new homes, Daisy and Poppy went together to be working gundogs, unfortunely shortly after they were rehomed they were stolen, we were none the wiser that the 2 pups were stolen until january of this year when we had a phonecall from a vet in Kent to say that they had a black lab with a microchip registered to my boss (when we rehome a dog we retain the microchip papers just incase something like this happens, new owners are always made aware of this and are asked that if the dog goes missing or is solen to notify us so we can notify petlog etc) the dog turned out to be poppy, she had been involved in accident and her spine was broken in 3 places the vet was unable to save her
Daisy was still missing that was until we had a call back at the begining of August from the RSPCA to say that they had picked a dog up with a chip registered to my boss, at the time we had no idea of what sort of state Daisy was in, the RSPCA allowed us to have Daisy back and a few days later we went to pick Daisy up, i was prepared for th e worst but nothing could have prepared me for the state that was in. Daisy was suffering from both demodex and sarcoptic mange, a fungal infection, malnutrition, and she had had a litter of pups (she is just a pup herself) through it all she recognised me and wagged her tail this made me feel even worse. When we took her to our own vet it was found that she was also suffering from an ear and eye infection.
Daisy needed daily washes and creams, and medicated baths twice a week for the mange and fungal infection, she also needed ear and eye drops, and had to be kept isolated from the other dogs. As each day went by Daisys personalty started to shine through, she is now nearly at the end of her treatment a lot quicker than any could have anticipated, she is nervous of strangers especially men, she is hand shy, and the last few days i have discovered that she has probably been kicked at some point and ran when she saw a workman sweeping the road
But now daisy resembles the pup that left us last year, I just wante dto share daisys story and her photo diary of the past few weeks
we will never know what Daisy has been through the past year but I was wondering if there is anyone out there how may be able to shed some light, someone may recognise her either from her puppy photos of from the photos that were taken when she was found, we have never been told exactly where she was found but we do know that she was found wandering in Grays Essex
