Number 1:-

The police have been notified. Any breed conidered - they are not fussy!!!!

This is taken from Terrier Talk.

"I live in a quiet village in Devon, out in the country, about 20 miles from Plymouth. Yesterday (3rd July 2006) at about midday I heard someone at the gate of my driveway whistling & calling (as if for a dog) - the gate is about 50 feet from the front door. I went out to see who it was & found a blonde-haired child of about 7-8, with a jewel in his pierced left nostril & dabs of what appeared to be pink nail varnish in a line across his cheek. He asked whether I had a Jack Russell terrier (yes), & was it the dog he was taking for a walk tomorrow (no!!!), & could he see him, how old was he, what was his name, etc...? I called the dog out of the house & the child started to try & get in, at which point. I stopped him because I suddenly thought how odd this all was. This was happening during school hours, the child was not recognisably any of the village children that I knew, & was certainly of a notably 'different' appearance. Was I (& the dog) being distracted away from the house? Or was the dog being checked out? (When I told the child the dog was 7, he seemed surprised & said he looked about 3) & as fast as it had all happened, the child just ran away. I went & looked down the lane & saw one (old & roughish) car I didn't recognise parked close by, but no one visible."

This happened in Blackawton, Totnes (TQ9) & it could happen anywhere. Please do no tell give information about your dog to anyone.

Number 2:-

Another incident has happened but this time in Sheldon Park, Sheldon, Birmingham (B37) this was an attempted dog snatch. There were 2 men driving a white transit van. Please be cautious.

Number 3:-

A white haired male with a grey beard, moustace, he is tall, 40-50 years old & was wearing blue overalls. He is cold calling houses offering to do drains but he is showing a keen interest in the homeowners dogs. This man actually had the gall to ask one owner whether he could take their dog to show his son who was around the corner. The owner was wise luckily & told him no.

This happened in the YO13 of York.

Number 4:-

A man has been approaching dog owners asking many questions & enquiring "Can your dog do the business?". He was driving a white transit van please be cautious.

This happened in Blackheath (SE3).

Number 5:-

A possible attempted theft from a breeder. The vehicle involved in a burgendy & grey Subaru the registration plate is S461 RGC. Please take extra care.

This happened in Chievely near Newbury (RG1).

Number 6:-

A white transit van with a acorn logo on it has been sighted they are known dog thieves. They pose as landscape gardeners & workmen.

This happened in the Midlands (B1).

Number 7:-

A passenger was in a car last week (between 11 & 17th September 2006) waiting when a man came over & started talking to them about the dog, stroking the dog he tried to un-clip her car harness.

This happened at Thetford Leisure Centre, Norfolk (IP31).

Number 8:-

Tall swarthy looking dark haired guy in his 20's driving a brown car possibly a Ford Focus or VW he was seen taking photos of houses & dogs. If you have seen him please get the registration number please.

This happened in Moreton-In-Marsh (GL54).

Number 9:-

An attempted dog theft happened on 8/10/06 a customer tied their Jack Russell Terrier outside a pet shop even thugh the dog is allowed in the shop it was only for 2 minutes & when the owner of the dog went back out the lead was there but no dog. The owner popped his head in a restaurant a couple of doors away to ask if anyone saw anything, he immediately saw a woman pushing the dog under the table trying to hide it. He grabbed his dog but the woman was very argumentative insisting it was her dog & trying to start a fight. The police were called but the woman fled in a car with another car. Both of them have very strong Irish accents. It is not known whether this was planned or spur of the momment.

This happened in New Haw near Woking, Surrey (KT15).
