I hope this is ok to post, I recieved this e mail today,

Just want to alert anyone reading this who lives in or around
Stafford that we have a problem just now with attempted dog
stealing. A middle aged couple (slight irish accent) have been
going
round rural areas, knocking on doors and asking whether the
householder has any eggs for sale. If a dog appears, they take
an
interest, ask it's name, fuss it, then come back later and try
to
steal it. We know they have been successful at least once -
taking a
couple of working springers (unfortunately I've no details).
They
have also appeared on someone's doorstep (with the man claiming
to
be from the Council and the female from the RSPCA) indicating
they've had a report about a dog being badly treated and asking
to
see it. When refused by the owner's teenage son they actually
tried
to force entry. The owner checked with the RSPCA to be told
there
are no female RSPCA officers in Staffordshire! They are not
choosy
what they take and appear to be targeting both working and
larger
pedigree dogs. We've also been informed they were disturbed
trying
to take a couple of horses!
