Micro-chipping - Dogs
Service information provided by Fareham Borough Council
Dog owners in Fareham can have their dogs micro-chipped at one of the special 'microchipping days' organised between now and September in conjunction with PET-ID.
The microchip, which is quickly and easily injected between the shoulder blades of the dog, remains with the animal for life ensuring that if it is lost vets and welfare organisations can easily identify the animal and reunite them with their owners. Microchipping also identifies proof of ownership should a dog be stolen.
The cost for micro-chipping each dog is £15.00. A microchip does not replace the legal requirement for a dog to wear a visible tag, bearing the owners address.
