Can you help?
Three boys, Patrick, and Mark aged 8 and Sean, aged 5 are missing their pet Labrador ‘COCO’ since last Thursday 30th June.
COCO went missing form her garden in Welwyn at around 6pm and has not been seen or heard of since. She is 9 months old, black and very friendly. She loves people and other dogs and was wearing a brown leather collar with blue identity tag giving her name and address details.
If any readers have any information that can help the boys to find COCO they can call on 01438 717 558 anytime.
There is a reward for any information leading to COCO being recovered.

Bonnie,
Of course we will help in any way we can.....and am sorry to hear of COCO.
Was she chipped or tattooed? Did she escape or was she cstolen do you think? I assume because of her age she is entire? Or not ?
I assume you have done these things anyway but just in case.......call the dog warden, rescue homes, any pounds, local vets. Put posters on lamposts, in pet shops and vets, infact every where that will let you. Consider areas outside Welwyn ( I assume you mean OLD Welwyn ) as labs can travel....WGC and Codicote for sure ( I used to live there ) Not only leave your details but ring twice a day to see if she has been brought in.
We have found one of the most successful tools has being local media. Radio station, and papers, this quite often brings in sightings.
In the meantime, I shall put out an alert on our sister site also www.labradorforums.co.uk ( which you are more than welcome to join ) This is a community of 2000 lab owners, and will see if anyone is in your area.
Please keep us updated and certainly of any sightings that you get as time is then of the essence and we can pounce on pinpointed areas.

Thanks for your reply. She was chipped with Petlog and had a brown collar with a blue name tag.
I was wondering if someone (if they were unkind) who found her would have replaced her collar with another of their own. . . So if anyone sees a 9 month old (she's now nearly 10 months old) labrador who has a new owner, could they also please alert me.
Many thanks for your kind support.

Bonnie,
Sadly I have to say it is possible her collar has been changed, especially if she was stolen as that helps avoid visual detection. Therefore it is important to stress that to everyone, a black lab is the first thing to look for, irrespective of collar colour, if it matches well that's a bonus.
As for the chipping you can take something positive from that, either if she is wandering and picked up, her chip can be zapped by the warden, or if someone has her, she will need to see a vet etc at some point and as long as you have got her details to all the vets they should note a new client with black pup and zap her, also they are likely to ask this person about innoculations etc, and this person won't know, which should alert them.
One of out members jesstiggs had her CJ returned to her for that very same reason, the man couldn't explain anything and as they had already being made aware of a missing lab, asked questions, checked and subsequently found he was not with his rightful owner.
So, any little thing you can do CAN make a difference. I have posted on out sister site already, and hope you have contacted www.dogslost.co.uk it is free and a great asset.
I have contacted www.dogslost.co.uk and let them know that you had referred me to their website.
Still looking for Coco. . .

Hi Bonnie,
Please call me Rhoni
Have you been able to address all the things I advised before? Press etc....you might have to bully your way into them agreeing to airtime, but it does work. We have members who can confirm this.
When out searching having something really tasty with you, cheese or sausage etc.....
You never said if COCO escaped or was stolen......if the lattar have you informed the police

Hi Bonnie. I have heard that if you sprinkle some of your urine around the areas where you are searching, the dog will pick up your scent. Also the dust from your hoover mixed with water, also sprinkled around. The lost dog will recognise this and feel more confident in staying in the area with the familiar scents. Can't vouch for this but anything is worth a try. I must say it sounds feasible. Good luck, hope you find your pup soon xx

Hi Labnut.....
Thanks for your post, yes I agree it does make a lot of sense, a very basic thing but in the ideal dog world, that is exactly how a dog would feel / react should it become lost and dis-orientated....Brilliant idea, Thank you.....
Infact so much so maybe you would like to make a topic of it in the ' Lost a Lab ' section under it's own heading, also include any other similiar tips as I personally see it makes sense and may just make all the difference to the recovery of a pet particularly if newly missing......
I see you are in Hertfordshire ! Are you anywhere near Bonnie?
And on that note are you aware of our ' Lab Alert ' for volunteers on the left hand side of the home page?

Bonnie,
Just to keep you updated......I put a post on our sister site www.labradorforums.co.uk about COCO and have just had this reply, Anthea writes..........
"Is this lab still missing? I so, I work for Herts Fire and Rescue, and I will send the info to Welwyn Fire Station and the surrounding stations too. You'd be amazed how many people a firefighter can know!! "
I have informed her that he is still missing so consider her offer as done..
Chin up

I have spoken to Coco's owner today and unfortunatly there has been no
further sightings of Coco, the family are still looking everywhere, and
calling local kennels ect. There is a strong possibilty that Coco was taken
by travellers as there was some nearby at the time that Coco disappeared
the site was checked out but they have now moved on,so there is a
chance that Coco could still be with these travellers anywhere in the
country.
If you happen to see a black lab in a cage at a travellers site it could be
Coco so please be vigilant as these dogs are most likely to have been
stolen, If you see a black lab like Coco please contact the owner direct or
