Hi all, hope you find George soon.
Just thinking, have you tried advertising him in the admag, its free to advertise and there are mags for all over the country??
Best of luck.

Hi all, I have a bit of a lead on a stolen dog racket thats going on in the south. Apparently stolen dogs (particularly gun dogs) are being 'smuggled' (if thats the right word - in fact dogs in cars taken abroad by ferry are not checked) to France via the Isle of Wight, and are then sold on. Gun dogs (labs and spaniels) are apparently sought after over there. If anyone has any contact with anyone in France who may be able to help - please let me know. I'd really like to send an email to vets, local authorities (does France have Dog Wardens?), and in particular any gun dog societies. However, as I don't speak French a search of French websites is going to be really hard! Any ideas anyone?

Caroline,
Have copied your post to Lab Forums. As we are still collating everything here, I am aware of LF members from IOW and France.
You say racket is running from the South, any more info.....maybe PM or email might be more appropriate !

Hi everyone,
from Maddie.....
...."I will find out some addresses for her (French retreiver club and the french kennel club) and send them to her. My French is not brilliant and in my epxerience I ahve never ahd a rely when I ahve written the the French kennel club but anything is worth trying. Practially, I pm not of a lot of assitance as I'm right down by the Spanish border but I willalso post a message of a couple for French forums that I cotribute too - mostly ex pats but at least it'll be speading the word. france does not have dog wardens as such but each village, event the tiniest has a Mairie (town hall), some wil ahve email some faxes. Vetsa re unlikely to have emails but it may be worth doigna search on French yellow pages adn seeing if surgeries close to the porst ahve fax numbers.
I''ll get some stuff together...

Hi Maddie,
Excellent - thanks for all your help.
If you ever get stuck on the French language, the google language translater is excellent.

Hi
Good idea as George may have been chipped.I'm just not sure they will give the information as it probably comes under the data protection act,but it's well worth a try.

Hi Caroline
Have you been in contact with Birmingham Dogs Home ? Or any other rescue sanctaries in this area ?
There's no point duplicating, but if you havent I can deal with it ok.

Kev,
By all means contact Caroline by Pm or email with your question....
In the meantime Caroline has asked me to create a letter to send to all Mirochipping company's alerting them to George.
This, I hope in turn, will permit access to all these sites for all lost dogs.

Hi
I am now in receipt of the standard email and poster from Donrosa,so will be starting on the schools tomorrow.I am going to speak to Education Dept. to see if there is a quicker and easier way of sending the emails.
Donrosa has also forwarded my email to Caroline regarding B'ham Dogs home etc and I am waiting for her to get back to me.

Caroline, George's mum, has contacted 2ten FM radio station asking for airtime about the loss and search for him.
This led to the station speaking to our Dave who, on all accounts, had a long and productive conversation about George, lost / stolen dogs as a whole and LF / LL.
As a result I have just had a converstion with them, which was also very long, clearly the lady in question has grasped this with both hands and between myself and Jane from www'dogslost'co'uk ( for which I am profoundly grateful Jane ) have also been able to furnish her with enough info to grip the nations attention, hopefully !
The news item goes out tomorrow morning, covering the Berks / Nth Hamps area.
Lets hope for success and more volunteers / members !
Thanks to Caroline, Dave, Jane, Lucy and 2ten FM

The Press Release went out nationally to the media on Sunday - finally!! (sorry it took me so long been a bit tied up with other things)
I am delighted that 2-10FM followed it up straight away and I hope that others will follow. Lets just keep everything crossed that we get some more publicity with reference to George and also Lost Labs.
