On Friday I was walking my dog in my local park when two young men in hooded jumpers and jogging bottoms tried to coax him out by opening the gate, they quickly disappeared when they saw me following but after conversation with another dog walker it appears that it is not the first time that this has happened in the area and that dogs are being stolen and either sold in pub car parks, trained for dog fighting or simply taken for the twisted amusement of deliberately harming them.
This problem stretches across all boroughs in this (TW8) and surrounding areas inc; Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing, Hounslow and Hillingdon.
I would urge all dog owners to be on their guard and pass the word on to other dog walkers in the area. My dog is very friendly and inquisitive and would be only too happy to greet a new person and be coaxed away (esp with food!) and his recall is, well, temperamental which is why I only let him off in a fenced area - but obviously he is not even safe in there.
Please be vigilant x

Thanks for the warning, I guess no matter where we go we all have to keep our eyes open
