Lost Lab Checklist
Below is a list (Not definitive) of steps to take when your labrador goes missing.
Print out this checklist and mark off each suggestion as you complete it. Hopefully your lab will turn up safe and sound in no time!
PRINTER FRIENDLY Copy

Create and distribute flyers - Include full contact details and any associated angle may help, i.e. Beloved Childs Pet etc, Put in all locations normally frequented on walks etc

Contact all local Veterinarians and let them know to keep an eye out, ask if they will put up your flyer also.

Inform the local police and Dog Warden

Check the local neighborhoud thoroughly with friends who the dog knows and likes. Carry their favourite treats and take torches if searching as the torchlight will reflect off their eyes if they are under objects or in shadow unseen.

Put your flyers up anywhere that a possible animal lover may see and then later recognize your labrador such as Vets offices, pet shops or animal shelters.

If your labrador has a canine friend then ask if its pssible for the owner to accompany you on your searches as this may entice them out.

Leave food and water out in your garden area in case they comes home on their own.

Call The Local Radio Station and ask if they can put an announcement out.

Ask a friend to sit at home awaiting phone calls in case your Labrador is found whilst you are out looking.

Tell Postman, Milkman, Meter Readers etc to keep an eye out for your lost lab as they are driving around the neighbourhood.

Visit local animal shelters daily (In person, as sometimes breeds are mistaken and you know your dog more than anyone else)

Offer a reward in large letters on the poster.

Bring a blanket to keep in the car. You won't know what kind of shape your dog will be in when they are located, and a blanket can serve as an emergency stretcher if needed.

Have a spare collar and leash with you. Theirs may be damaged or missing.

Phone all local Labrador Rescue Representatives, sometimes rescues are the first to hear of a stray taken in.

Use a high-pitched whistle. It will carry farther than a voice, and a curious dog may come to investigate the sound.

Go to your local businesses and shops, especially restaurants. The smell of food may draw out a hungry runaway.
